About Prof. Michael Waisbourd
Ophtahlmologist and Glaucoma Specialist
Prof. Michael Waisbourd, an ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist, is an attending physician and director of the Glaucoma Research Center at Tel-Aviv Medical Center, Israel (Ichilov). After graduating from the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel-Aviv University, Prof. Waisbourd completed his residency at the division of ophthalmology, Tel-Aviv Medical Center. He was then accepted to the prestigious clinical fellowship program at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA – which is ranked as one of the two best eye hospitals in the US (US News) and considered one of the top eye hospitals worldwide. He remained as faculty member at Wills Eye Hospital, where he supervised residents while performing glaucoma laser procedures and surgeries, and was the research manager at Wills Eye Glaucoma Research Center. At that time, he was appointed as assistant professor of ophthalmology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, where he still holds this position as an adjunct faculty member.
Prof. Waisbourd returned to Israel after spending 4 years in Philadelphia. He is the founder and director of the Glaucoma Research Center at Tel-Aviv Medical Center, where he currently works as senior physician.
Prof. Waisbourd is clinical associate professor of ophthalmology at Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University, and is considered one of the top glaucoma specialists in Israel.
